Philanthropy as a Spark for Social Justice Organizing

This discussion will focus on the legacy of social justice organizing efforts within the sector of philanthropy, a sector that largely lacks transparency and is often very misunderstood yet plays a major role in our movement ecosystem. Third Wave Fund will serve as a case study for how a movement --Third Wave Feminism -- spawned a funding arm that brought our feminist struggle to philanthropy.

Rye Young is the Executive Director of Third Wave Fund which supports and strengthens youth-led gender justice activism focusing on efforts that advance the political power, well-being, and self-determination of communities of color and low-income communities.
